Will I need x-rays?
We will refer patients to get x rays if it is clinically indicated. Our radiologist is situated approx. 100metres up the road from us and you can be booked in immediately. We will return later to collect the xrays so you will not need to wait around for them to be developed.
Is it safe?
Our chiropractor is a fully qualified member of the CAA and as such they are regulated and insured. We also attend regular seminars to ensure we are updated in our education. It is mandatory for all Chiropractors to partake in over 25hrs of professional development each year in order to be a registered Chiropractor.
All therapies are extremely safe, although like any medical procedure there are theoretical risks of some side-effects, which are mostly very mild. We encourage you to discuss any concerns that you may with the Chiropractor.
What is a Chiropractic adjustment ?
A chiropractic adjustment is the skill of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixated, “locked up”, or not moving properly. This adds motion to the joint, helping the joints to gradually regain more normal motion and function. The purpose of this safe and natural procedure is to permit improved spinal function, improved nervous system function, and improved health.
There are many ways to adjust the spine. Usually the chiropractor's hands or a specially designed instrument delivers a brief and highly-accurate thrust. Some adjusting methods are quick, whereas others require a slow, constant or indirect pressure. Some patients will feel immediate, though temporary relief.
It is easy to understand how this relief could be taken to mean "cure." However, this is usually the first step in a process which takes time and effort to repair.
After years of university training and clinical experience, each chiropractor becomes highly skilled in the delivery of a variety of adjusting approaches and will sometimes use several techniques.
Is chiropractic care appropriate for children?
Since significant trauma can occur at birth, many parents choose to have their newborns checked for any spinal health related problems. Later, learning to walk, riding a bicycle, and other childhood activities can cause spinal health related problems.
While a bandage and some comforting words can help a grazed knee, the potential underlying structural damage to the child’s spine, skull, pelvis and extremities is the unique domain of a chiropractor.
Many childhood health complaints that are brushed off as “growing pains” may be able to be traced to the spine. Regular chiropractic checkups may be able to identify these problems and help avoid some of the health complaints seen later in adults. Naturally, Chiropractic adjusting procedures are modified to a child’s spine, particularly babies.
Is Chiropractic covered by health funds
Chiropractic visits are covered by all major private health funds under the "extras" coverage. The exact percentage of each refund varies between funds. For your convenience, we have installed the HICAPS system in our practice. This will enable you to claim your Chiropractic services on the spot by swiping your health fund membership card. Once your claim is authorised by the health fund, you simply pay the balance amount.
